The history of our logs

In France, as in many European countries, a real Christmas meal is a meal that ends with a delicious yule log. This tradition goes back many years.

During Christmas Eve, it was traditional to burn a large log in the chimneys that had to burn slowly. This log was the guarantee of a good year to come and thus carried a strong symbolism.

The evolution of new means of heating and the disappearance of large chimneys gradually put an end to the custom of burning logs. A French Pastry Chef had the idea of replacing the log with a pastry.

Today, it is a tradition well-established for Europeans.
