Tuesday 21th and Wednesday 22th March took place the final of the French Dessert Championship in Villers-lès-Nancy, in the Lycée Stanislas.

The final of the French Dessert Championship took place on March Thursday 21th and Wednesday 22th in Villers-lès-Nancy, at the Lycée Stanislas

To win the title, the candidates had to realize the dessert they created for the regional selection and had to imagine in 15 minutes a second dessert from a surprise basket.

The theme of the surprise basket invented by the president of the jury Philippe Etchebest, was "cooked dessert", a subject that enhanced the regional fruits: mirabelles, quetsches ... but that has also given a hard time to the candidates.

The 3-star jury was made of Philippe Etchebest along with Best Craftsmen of France (Franck Fresson, Angelo Musa ...), World Champions (Quentin Bailly ...), members of the Relais Desserts association (Christophe Roussel ...) but also the former champions of the French Dessert Championship (Morgane Raimbaud, Damien Gendron).

After more than 4 hours of hard work, here are the results of the 2017 vintage:

In the "Professionals" category, Cyril Gaidella, pastry-consultant (Consulting Gourmand) won the gold medal with his dessert "Transmission". Nicolas Serreau, pastry chef at the Mère Brazier restaurant in Lyon, dragged himself to the second place. Finally, Julian Noray, pastry chef of the restaurant Alan Geaam in Paris ends up on the third step of the podium.

In the "Juniors" category, Enzo Franzi of the CIFA Yonne in Auxerre won the title of French Champion of Dessert thanks to his creation "Lemon Ice". Following him, Vincent Cabel of the CFA Médéric in Paris created the dessert «D’Est en Ouest» which allows him to get the silver medal. Finally, Antoine Houzé of CFA Ploufragan obtains the third place with his dessert "Freshness of Agrume".

The entire Elle & Vire Professionnel team was here to cheer on the candidates and congratulate the winners who will soon be invited to the Maison de la Crème Elle & Vire for a training course.

The place of the 2018 final is already known ... it will be in Auxerre!
