Nestled in the heart of Bali, Ubud is famous for its lush, terraced rice paddies, which are among the most beautiful on the island and its holy Monkey Forest, home to over 600 crab-eating macaques and 115 species of tree. The Kupu Kupu Barong Villas & Tree Spa resort was built in 2004 in Kedewatan, a charming, picturesque village located in the centre of Ubud.

Overlooking the magnificent Ayung Valley and surrounded by luxuriant tropical vegetation, the hotel restaurant, aptly named ' La View', serves fusion cuisine in an exceptional setting, combining traditional Indonesian gastronomy with influences from various South-East Asian cooking styles as well as some French references. The dishes hold the promise of an amazing gastronomic journey based on a perfect marriage of flavours and seasonings, such as urab (a traditional speciality of chopped vegetables, spices and coconut), which may be accompanied by meats prepared in a Western European style.

The spectacular panoramic view from the restaurant ensures its No. 1 spot in the annual listing of restaurants with the best views, alongside Asiate (New York), Dasheene (St Lucia, West Indies), Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge (Tanzania) or Fangweng (Yichang, China). A private terrace (The Bird Cage) and a raised terrace on stilts (The Lake View) allow lovers and adventure seekers carefree enjoyment of this enchanting setting. If they listen carefully, the only sounds they will hear will be a light wind rustling in the trees and the gentle murmur of the river down below them.
